How Michigan paycheck withholding works
Michigan withholding uses a 4.25% rate and a $5,900 annual allowance for each MI-W4 exemption. Michigan city income taxes are not included, so workers in a taxing city should expect their pay stub to differ.
Calculation status: partial. State module mi-paycheck-2026.1, effective 2026-01-01 through 2026-12-31. Local individual income-tax withholding is not included.
Worked example from this calculator
At $30 per hour for 80 regular biweekly hours, single with a current Form W-4 and no adjustments, the engine estimates $1,919.90 take-home pay from $2,400.00 gross pay.
